National Library of Korea Partners with War Memorial Service Association for Joint Academic and Exhibition Cooperation

MOU to Be Signed on May 29
Sharing of Korea-Related Materials and War History Resources

The National Library of Korea announced on May 29 that it will sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the War Memorial Service Association at the War Memorial conference room, focusing on mutual cooperation for the collection of overseas Korea-related materials.

The main contents of the agreement include: cooperation in sharing and jointly utilizing national knowledge resources; exchange of technical information for building data on national knowledge resources; and collaboration on joint academic, exhibition, and educational projects related to the history of the Korean War (6·25).

Through this agreement, the National Library of Korea, together with the War Memorial Service Association, will promote the collaborative collection and annotation of approximately 5,300 Korean War (6·25) records held by the Military History and Strategic Studies Institute (ATASE) at the National Archives of T?rkiye. The results of this collection will be jointly preserved and serviced by both institutions. In addition, to enhance accessibility and utilization of Korean War historical materials, the library plans to link and share the catalog of related materials on the 'Korean War Archive Service Platform' promoted by the War Memorial Service Association.

Kim Heeseop, Director of the National Library of Korea, stated, "This is a meaningful occasion where the National Library of Korea, responsible for expanding Korean studies materials at home and abroad, and the War Memorial Service Association, responsible for building the archive of Korean War records, are entering into an agreement to efficiently collect and jointly utilize materials." He added, "If both institutions share and connect their national knowledge resources and accumulated experience, I expect not only mutual development but also a significant improvement in public understanding and information accessibility regarding the Korean War (6·25)."
