Eunpyeong District Launches Housing Improvement Support for Youth Preparing for Independence

Customized Support for Housing Repairs, Daily Necessities, and Safety

Seoul’s Eunpyeong District has launched the “Fix(GO), Dream(GO)! Housing Environment Improvement Project for Youth Preparing for Independence” to help these young people live in comfortable and safe conditions.

Eunpyeong District Launches Housing Improvement Support for Youth Preparing for Independence Agreement Ceremony for the Project to Improve Housing Conditions for Youth Preparing for Independence. Provided by Eunpyeong District.

Youth preparing for independence often begin living alone in rental housing or dormitories after leaving protective facilities, but many face difficulties with repairs and maintenance. Reflecting this reality, Eunpyeong District is focusing on practical improvements to their living conditions, going beyond initial settlement support.

The district signed a business agreement with the Korea Collective Building Social Cooperative on May 27, and, together with professional home repair companies, will visit the homes of eligible youth to provide basic repairs and cleaning, including insulation, wallpapering, and window work. Outdated facilities such as sinks and sanitary equipment will be replaced, and safety devices like fire alarms and gas leak detectors will be thoroughly inspected. The youth will also have the opportunity to learn simple maintenance skills and receive essential household items worth about 200,000 won, such as electric fans.

Eunpyeong District plans to continue monitoring the improved housing and the changes in the youths’ lives, providing ongoing follow-up support. Youth preparing for independence who need housing improvements can apply by visiting the Family Policy Division, calling (02-351-6207), or sending an email.

Kim Mikyung, Mayor of Eunpyeong District, said, “I am grateful that we can improve the housing environment for youth preparing for independence through this agreement with Korea Collective Building. We will continue our efforts so that these young people can find courage and hope to live in the world and settle as healthy members of the local community.”
