More than 20 public officials, including directors and department heads, gather
Discussion on promoting 11 joint projects
Sancheong County in South Gyeongsang Province announced on May 29 that it held the 22nd working-level council for mutual development between Sancheong and Jinju at the Jinju Namgang Lantern Exhibition Hall.
The meeting was attended by more than 20 department heads, including Park Hongjong, Director of Planning and Administration of Jinju City, and Heo Jonggeun, Director of Administration and Welfare of Sancheong County, who serve as co-chairs of the working-level council. They shared the progress of joint projects between the two cities and counties and discussed future plans together.
First, in the environmental sector, the two sides agreed to hold joint activities to eradicate invasive species and conduct environmental cleanup events in the area near Jinyang Lake in the second half of this year.
In the economic sector, following last year’s joint issuance of mutual development gift certificates and the co-hosting of a job fair, this year the two sides agreed to cooperate on joint promotion of the Hometown Love Donation Program and to work together to foster a culture of giving.
In the tourism sector, they will intensify efforts to promote major tourist attractions and revitalize tourism products by organizing a joint influencer familiarization tour, producing SNS content using Jinju’s tourism character Hamo and Sancheong’s tourism character Sani, and implementing an incentive program for tourism operators to attract group tourists to both Sancheong and Jinju.
In the agricultural sector, to expand sales channels for agricultural specialties and increase farm income, the two cities and counties plan to continue mutual promotion of their online shopping malls and to hold exchange exhibitions and sales events for outstanding agricultural products in connection with major festivals.
Finally, in the education and sports sector, they agreed to provide lifelong education programs in which citizens from both cities and counties can participate together, such as the "Donguibogam One-Day Family Experience," "One-Day Cooking Experience with Jinju and Sancheong Families," and "Entrepreneurship Education for Elementary, Middle, and High School Students." In the second half of this year, they also plan to hold an inter-city sports exchange event in Jinju to foster friendship among sports enthusiasts from both regions.
The Director of Planning and Administration of Jinju City, who presided over the meeting, stated, "The working-level council for mutual development goes beyond a simple administrative council and serves as a bridge for communication and harmony between the two cities and counties. I ask for continued interest and participation in discovering new projects so that the fruits of Sancheong-Jinju mutual development can become even richer in the future."
Meanwhile, the two cities and counties organized an exhibition under the theme "Spring of Jinju Fortress and Namsa Yedam Village" at Ilho Square, Jinju Station, to provide opportunities for urban residents to enjoy culture and the arts. The exhibition, which opened on April 15, has been receiving a great response from local residents and will run until June 1.
