Gwanak Hosts Carbon Neutrality Wave 'Green Wave Gwanak' Event

Gwanak District (District Mayor Park Junhee) will host the eco-friendly festival 'Green Wave Gwanak' on June 5, 2025, in celebration of the 30th Environment Day, to promote the spread of a culture of carbon neutrality in daily life.

Green Wave Gwanak, held at the Gwanak District Office, is themed 'The Wave of Carbon Neutrality Starting in Gwanak.' The event aims to encourage the practice of carbon neutrality in everyday life and to expand public consensus on environmental preservation.

The event will begin with a 'Youth Busking Performance' and a 'Bubble Show,' followed by a series of programs including: a carbon neutrality pledge performance, an environmental education musical tailored for children, a 'Carbon Neutrality Practice Showcase' where participants share eco-friendly practices, and a carbon neutrality image quiz event.

Additionally, the district plans to honor exemplary residents dedicated to local environmental preservation by presenting the 'Award for Distinguished Contribution in Carbon Neutrality Practice,' recognizing their efforts for the environment.

Furthermore, the 'Gwanak Green Leader Environmental Club,' which practices carbon neutrality in daily life, will operate more than 20 eco-friendly experience booths, including mini-games using recycled materials and a promotional booth for the Gwanak District Environmental Education Center, offering visitors a variety of attractions and hands-on experiences.

The district also intends to focus on sustainable operation of the event by encouraging the use of reusable cups and producing recyclable promotional materials, aiming to create a 'zero disposable, eco-friendly event.'

District Mayor Park Junhee stated, "Green Wave Gwanak will be an important first step in responding to the climate crisis and transitioning to a carbon-neutral society," adding, "We will continue to provide various educational and participatory opportunities so that residents can practice eco-friendly culture in their daily lives."
