Rodem Nursing Home in Yangsan, Gyeongnam, received a commendation from the Chairperson of the National Assembly Health and Welfare Committee in recognition of its contributions to promoting public health and improving elderly welfare.
This award is regarded as a result of the facility's consistent efforts to provide welfare services for the elderly population within the local community. Hyesung Welfare Foundation, which operates Rodem Nursing Home, has upheld its operational philosophy and dedicated itself to society for 38 years.
Rodem Nursing Home is an elderly care facility designed as a medical welfare institution based on a nature-friendly environment. The facility stands out for its design and operation, which prioritize the privacy and convenience of its residents. It also offers nature healing programs that utilize vegetable gardens and a pond. Through these programs, residents can experience changes in the seasons firsthand and find emotional comfort and recovery.
The nursing home, named after the biblical Rodem tree that symbolizes "rest and shade," aims to foster a family-like community that goes beyond mere protection of its residents, according to the facility's representatives.
Director Lee Eunsung stated, "This commendation was made possible thanks to the dedicated staff who have worked together for the well-being of our residents and the ongoing interest from the local community," adding, "We will continue to do our best to make this a healing space that upholds the dignity of our residents' lives."
Since its establishment in 1987, Hyesung Welfare Foundation has implemented a self-sustaining, fee-based nursing home model without relying on government subsidies. The foundation has pursued the sustainability of welfare based on a human-centered care philosophy.
