Jeollanam-do and the Jeonnam Mayors and County Governors Association pledged at the Extraordinary General Meeting of the Eighth-term Jeonnam Mayors and County Governors Association, held at Jangheung County Office on the 27th, to ensure that the key agendas driving future development and residents' happiness are reflected in the new government. They also called on residents to participate in voting.

The extraordinary general meeting was attended by Governor Kim Youngrok of Jeollanam-do and representatives from all 22 cities and counties in the province. The meeting included sharing the results of the press conference on the statement of proposals by the Association of Mayors, County Governors, and District Heads of Korea, which was held in April, and the announcement of a joint statement urging participation in voting.

Governor Kim stated, "At a time when the regional and local economies are facing unprecedented difficulties, Jeonnam must proactively prepare key agendas for future development and residents' happiness together with all 22 cities and counties, in line with the launch of the new government." He then presented eight core agendas for Jeonnam's future.

The core agendas are: ▲ implementation of basic income ▲ leading the way in renewable energy ▲ full-scale promotion of establishing the Solaseado AI Supercluster Hub ▲ AI and smart transformation of agriculture, fisheries, and livestock industries ▲ responding to crises in the petrochemical and steel industries ▲ fostering the space launch vehicle industry ▲ attracting COP33 to the South Coast and Southern Central Region ▲ creation of a national industrial complex for future advanced materials.

Governor Kim urged, "Let us work together so that these core agendas are incorporated into the new government's national policy tasks and lead Jeonnam's future development," and added, "We must also put our efforts into ensuring that the second supplementary budget provides tangible benefits to the local economy."

He also announced specific measures for closer cooperation between the province and the cities and counties, such as the resumption of the 'Policy Vision Tour' from June, the expansion of 'personnel exchanges between the province and cities/counties' starting in July, and the extension of the terms of deputy heads.

Kim Sung, Chair of the Jeonnam Mayors and County Governors Association, stated, "The 21st presidential election is a crucial event that will determine the future of our region and safeguard the values of democracy, and it is essential that it is supported by a high voter turnout." He called on everyone to "unite in spirit and action to protect the values of democracy and the future of our country through voting."

Governor Kim Youngrok and the Jeonnam Mayors and County Governors Association issued a 'Joint Statement on Participation in Voting for the 21st Presidential Election,' appealing to residents for voluntary participation in voting.

Governor Kim, referring to recent political and economic crises, said, "Due to the wounds of the illegal 12·3 martial law, the economic downturn, and instability in people's livelihoods, this presidential election is not simply a choice, but a historic decision to restore justice, revive the economy, and build a better Republic of Korea. I urge residents to open an era of popular sovereignty through overwhelming participation in voting."

The joint statement called for participation from all walks of life, including office workers, small business owners, youth, and the elderly, and proposed practical measures for participation such as fostering a voting atmosphere in workplaces, adjusting working hours, mutual shopkeeping, and accompanying neighbors to vote.
