Recognized for Contributions Such as Launching the SME Work-Life Balance Committee
The Korea Federation of SMEs announced on May 27 that Chairman Kim Ki-moon received a plaque of appreciation from the Presidential Committee on Low Fertility and Aging Society.
Chairman Kim was recognized for his efforts to promote a work-life balance culture among small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). In November of last year, the Federation launched the "SME Work-Life Balance Committee" with the participation of 19 SME associations and organizations, and has since carried out initiatives such as an industry-wide relay campaign to overcome low birth rates and the identification of exemplary cases.
In particular, to alleviate the burdens faced by SMEs in achieving work-life balance, the Federation proposed to the government and succeeded in having policies adopted, including support for substitute personnel for SMEs, support for colleagues sharing workloads, and the deferral of regular tax audits.
Chairman Kim stated, "Now that the birth rate has rebounded for the first time in nine years, I hope that the government and SMEs will work together to resolve the low birth rate issue," and added, "We will continue to gather feedback from SME sites to ensure that work-life balance policies are tailored to real-world needs."
