Gyeonggi-do is launching the 'Gyeonggi Ae-Chak Mentoring' program to help new public officials quickly adapt to the organization.
The Gyeonggi Ae-Chak Mentoring program is a step-by-step organizational adaptation process in which new hires work with mentors for one year after their appointment.
The program goes beyond the traditional temporary and formal mentoring by linking educational opportunities and practical activities that allow both mentors and mentees to grow together.
First, the mentoring system is introduced at a welcome event for new public officials, and within two months of appointment, mentors and mentees are paired during the onboarding training program.
Afterward, approximately four months of voluntary mentoring takes place, and at the final communication workshop, participants share their experiences and outstanding mentors are recognized.
Gyeonggi-do plans to support mentors' active participation by providing activity allowances and enhancing their communication and coaching skills through pre-training.
Lee Junghwa, Director of Human Resources at Gyeonggi-do, stated, "Just as the name 'Gyeonggi Ae-Chak' suggests, we will help new public officials develop affection for Gyeonggi-do and settle into their roles," adding, "We hope this will become a leading example of Gyeonggi-do's onboarding program and be expanded throughout all cities and counties."
The name 'Gyeonggi Ae-Chak Mentoring' reflects both the idea that senior officials support the successful settlement of their juniors with affection, and that they help new hires establish themselves in Gyeonggi-do. The program name was chosen through an internal contest. Mentors will be publicly recruited until June 8, and after pre-training, the program will begin operation.
