Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism Donates 1,300 TVs and 700 Refrigerators to Wildfire Victims

Chief Abbot Jinwoo Delivers Goods Worth 1.2 Billion Won
"We Will Stand with Neighbors in Pain"

Key figures from the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism visited the Gyeongbuk Provincial Government Office on May 26 and delivered home appliances worth 1.2 billion won to help residents affected by the massive wildfire.


The donation ceremony was attended by Jinwoo, the chief abbot of the Jogye Order, as well as other officials, Deungwoon, the chief monk of Gounsa Temple, and Myojang, the CEO of the Jogye Order Social Welfare Foundation.

The donated items, which include 1,300 televisions and 700 refrigerators, are home appliances worth a total of 1.2 billion won, prepared for wildfire victims in four cities and counties: Andong, Uiseong, Cheongsong, and Yeongdeok. These goods will be promptly delivered to each region.


Jinwoo, the chief abbot, stated, "I hope that even this small contribution will provide practical help to the affected residents. The Jogye Order will continue to faithfully fulfill its role as a religious community standing with neighbors in pain."


Lee Cheolwoo, governor of Gyeongbuk Province, said, "I would like to express my deepest gratitude to Jinwoo, the chief abbot of the Jogye Order, and all those involved for their warm support. This assistance will be a great help in restoring the daily lives of the wildfire victims."
