Chungnam Province announced that from May 26 to May 30, a delegation led by Kim Youngmyung, Director of the Environment and Forest Bureau, and composed of provincial officials, business representatives, and association members, will hold an "Environmental Administration Exchange Meeting" with Shandong and Jiangsu Provinces in China.
The exchange meeting aims to discuss joint responses to the climate crisis and strengthen cooperation in the environmental sector. It also seeks to promote mutual sustainable growth by establishing private-sector exchange channels through benchmarking environmental infrastructure and environmental companies.
On the first day, the province signed a "Joint Agreement on Environmental Conservation Exchange and Cooperation" with Shandong Province, and agreed to establish a specialized cooperation system for ecological and environmental conservation, including responding to climate change and reducing air pollution.
This achievement is based on continuous communication and mutual trust since the first environmental administration exchange in 2023.
The two local governments plan to address practical environmental issues by developing joint policies and promoting cooperative projects.
On the second day, the province will attend an international friendship city cooperation development conference, hold customized business meetings, and review technology trends in related fields. On the third day, the delegation will tour environmental infrastructure facilities and move to Jiangsu Province.
Since signing an environmental administration exchange agreement with Jiangsu Province in 2004, the province has maintained a global partnership for joint responses to environmental issues, holding an environmental administration exchange meeting once each in the first and second halves of every year.
At this 36th exchange meeting, the province will share major policies in the field of air quality and explore joint responses to carbon neutrality.
The province also plans to actively support the establishment of networks between private companies by creating opportunities for environmental companies to participate in exchanges with Jiangsu Province.
Kim Youngmyung, Director of the Environment and Forest Bureau, said, "This environmental administration exchange meeting will be a meaningful opportunity to expand the scope of cooperation beyond administrative exchanges to the private sector. As a Special Carbon Neutral Economy Province, we will do our best to lead international environmental cooperation and enhance the competitiveness of the province's environmental industry."
