USIM Protection Service Blocks USIM Use on Other Devices
Safe Roaming Applies Domestic Call Rates Abroad
KT announced on May 26 that it has improved its USIM Protection Service to allow customers to use it even while roaming overseas. In addition, KT is expanding the number of countries where the 'Safe Roaming' service, which applies domestic call rates, is available from 58 to 64 countries to coincide with the peak season for overseas travel.
Starting today, KT's USIM Protection Service, now available to roaming customers, links the customer's USIM information with their device information to prevent the USIM from being used arbitrarily in another device. Previously, this service was not available during overseas roaming, but with this improvement, it can now be used while roaming.

Customers who subscribed before May 26 can also use the service while roaming by making a separate request. Applications can be made through the KT customer center, KT.com, or at KT stores nationwide.
The number of countries where Safe Roaming is available has also increased from 58 to 64. Roaming customers visiting these countries account for 96% of all roaming users. Safe Roaming is a service that applies the same call rates as in Korea (1.98 KRW per second for voice calls) even when abroad. The service is automatically applied when visiting eligible countries, with no separate application required.
To meet the rising demand for overseas travel during the summer vacation season, KT has newly added six countries to the list of Safe Roaming destinations: Romania, Liechtenstein, Bulgaria, Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Georgia. Among these, the three Caucasus countries?Georgia, Azerbaijan, and Armenia?have recently become popular destinations among travelers.
Kim Younggeol, Head of KT's Service Product Division (Executive Vice President), said, "As overseas travel destinations continue to diversify, we will strive to create an environment where customers can use roaming services anywhere in the world without worry."
