Busan Transportation Corporation (President Lee Byungjin) conducted an on-site comprehensive drill simulating a complex disaster at Gangseo-gu Office Station on Metro Line 3 and at the headquarters disaster situation room on May 23, as part of the '2025 Disaster Response Safe Korea Training.'

This drill was based on a scenario where external structures collided due to strong winds, resulting in the destruction of an overhead line support, which then led to a train derailment and fire, creating a complex disaster situation.

To ensure a realistic training environment, more than 200 people participated, including officials from Gangseo-gu Office, Gangseo Police Station, Gangseo Fire Station, and Gangseo Public Health Center. The focus was on thoroughly checking the cooperation system with related organizations and on-site response capabilities.

The corporation utilized the disaster safety communication network (PS-LTE) to share real-time information and operate a command system. Disaster management resources such as drones and recovery equipment were deployed to enhance the realism of the exercise. At Gangseo-gu Office Station, the entire process?including passenger evacuation, rescue of the injured, fire suppression, and recovery operations?was carried out using an actual train, simulating real-life conditions.

At the headquarters disaster situation room, a discussion-based drill was conducted under the assumption of train service suspension. Participants reviewed step-by-step response measures and discussed crisis response strategies.

President Lee Byungjin stated, "As disasters caused by abnormal weather events become more frequent, we have further strengthened the safety and disaster response capabilities of urban railways. We will continue to prioritize citizen safety through effective training and response plans."
