"People Who Stopped Martial Law Troops... Please Cast Your Vote" Jeong Cheongrae Appeals for Support in Wando

"The People Protected Lee Jaemyung...
Now It's His Turn to Serve the People"

On the morning of May 25, Jeong Cheongrae, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea (representing Mapo-eul, Seoul), visited the five-day market in Wando-gun, Jeollanam-do, where he met with local residents and appealed for support for presidential candidate Lee Jaemyung.

Standing atop a campaign vehicle, Jeong addressed the crowd, saying, "After Congressman Park Jieon, I am the most well-known here." He continued, "A few days ago in Haenam, I met Congressman Park, who told me, 'The enthusiasm for candidate Lee Jaemyung is even greater than it was during the time of former President Kim Daejung.' Having come here myself, I can truly feel that energy."

He went on to say, "Please help ensure that candidate Lee Jaemyung can win by an overwhelming margin. Just as President Kim Daejung survived four life-threatening crises, candidate Lee has also faced four major crises."

Jeong explained, "The first was when the prosecution under the Yoon Sukyeol administration wielded its power against him. The second was when certain media outlets distorted the truth with their pens and tried to shake him. The third was the knife attack." He added, "I was right next to the scene in Busan, and it was truly terrifying. When I asked candidate Lee what it was like at the time, he said, 'I thought I had been punched, but then my neck felt hot and I collapsed. As blood was flowing, I saw the sky and thought I was going to die while looking at the clear sky.'"

Jeong continued, "The fourth crisis was on December 3 last year, when Yoon Sukyeol's group tried to send martial law troops to the National Assembly to remove Lee Jaemyung. However, the people stood in the way, and lawmakers bought enough time to vote, which prevented the declaration of 12·3 martial law."

He appealed, "Just as the people have saved Lee Jaemyung four times, I ask you now to make him a servant for the people, the representative servant of the Republic of Korea. Please put a period on this with your vote on June 3."

Afterwards, Jeong made his way through the market, greeting each merchant individually. Merchants reached out to shake hands with him, asked for his autograph, and took photos together. Young merchants expressed their support, saying, "We gained great strength from your statements in the Legislation and Judiciary Committee," while elderly residents responded with applause, asking him to "work hard for Lee Jaemyung."

In particular, a scene in which an approximately 90-year-old elderly man gently held Jeong's hand, repeatedly saying "Thank you" with tears in his eyes, created a solemn atmosphere at the site.

Concluding his campaign, Jeong said, "Three years ago, candidate Lee Jaemyung received about 85% support here. This time, I hope he can gain 5 to 6% more. Until the very last moment, I will meet each and every citizen with sincerity and humility."
