The Korea Economic Association announced on May 25 that it will hold a seminar titled "Digital Sovereignty and Cybersecurity in the Age of Artificial Intelligence (AI)" in collaboration with the Korea Information Security Industry Association at the FKI Tower in Yeouido, Seoul, on May 27.
The keynote speech will be delivered by Anne Neuberger, a professor at Stanford University who previously served as Deputy National Security Advisor for Cyber and Emerging Technology at the U.S. National Security Council (NSC) in the White House.
Professor Neuberger served as the inaugural Director of the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency in 2019 and was appointed Deputy National Security Advisor at the White House NSC with the launch of the Joe Biden administration in 2021, holding the position until January of this year. Drawing on her experience responding to last year's hacking incident involving a U.S. telecommunications company, Professor Neuberger will present on national security-level cyber incident response strategies.
Given that both South Korea and the United States have recently become major targets for external hacker groups, including the recent SK Telecom hacking incident, the seminar is also expected to emphasize the need to strengthen defense capabilities through public-private cooperation and international collaboration.
During the panel discussion, Lim Jongin, Distinguished Professor at Korea University's Graduate School of Information Security, will serve as moderator. The panelists will include Kim Hwigang, Professor at Korea University; Kim Sangbae, Professor at Seoul National University; Kim Jinsu, Senior Vice President of the Korea Information Security Industry Association; and Lee Youngju, Head of the Information Security Team at Shinhan Financial Group.
