Joo Jinwoo, co-head of the Negative Campaign Division of the People Power Party's Central Election Countermeasures Committee, and Choi Kisik, the party's district committee chair, announced on May 25 that they had submitted a complaint to the Yeongdeungpo Police Station in Seoul, accusing Lee of violating the Public Official Election Act by disseminating false information.
The People Power Party stated, "Lee pledged to relocate HMM to Busan and claimed, 'The biggest obstacle to relocating the company is the employees, but the employees have agreed.' However, none of the 1,800 employees agreed to the relocation of HMM." The party further explained, "Additionally, neither the Korea Development Bank nor the Korea Ocean Business Corporation, both HMM shareholders, have ever considered the relocation."
The People Power Party also filed complaints against Lee for other remarks, alleging violations of the Public Official Election Act for spreading false information. The party cited statements by Lee such as "The plan to make Ilsan Bridge toll-free was withdrawn due to government opposition" and "The cost of coffee is 120 won," claiming these are falsehoods. The party declared, "We will not tolerate actions that deceive the public."
