Yangsan City Successfully Concludes 2nd Presidential Cup National Park Golf Tournament

Yangsan City, Gyeongnam Province, announced that the 2nd Presidential Cup National Park Golf Tournament concluded successfully at Hwangsan Park Golf Course, known as the sacred ground of K-Park Golf, on May 23 and 24. The event brought together more than 700 players and over 300 tournament officials, all of whom had advanced through regional preliminaries in 17 cities and provinces across the country.

As the most prestigious tournament under the President's Cup, the opening ceremony was graced by many distinguished guests, including Park Wansu, Governor of Gyeongnam Province.


In his congratulatory remarks, Governor Park Wansu said, "It is very meaningful that the 2nd Presidential Cup National Park Golf Tournament is being held in Yangsan, Gyeongnam. I will make every effort to promote the sport of park golf and expand its infrastructure for teams from cities and provinces nationwide."


Over the two days, May 23 and 24, the players demonstrated their honed skills and delivered high-level performances amid the beautiful natural surroundings of Hwangsan Park.


On the first day, May 23, the tournament began with equipment inspection and player registration, followed by the 1st group individual general division (18 holes), 2nd group individual senior division (18 holes), and 3rd group team division (18 holes). On the second day, May 24, an additional 18 holes were played by each group. Over the two days, the individual competitions (general and senior divisions) were held in a 36-hole stroke play format, while the team competitions (general and senior divisions) were conducted in a 36-hole foursome format.


Notably, the university division and three-generation team matches held on the second day effectively highlighted the popularity and appeal of park golf as a sport that can be enjoyed by people of all ages and generations, receiving an enthusiastic response.


A variety of side events also captivated the attention of participants and visitors. The Park Golf Experience Zone offered opportunities to try putting and screen park golf, which was met with great enthusiasm. The "Insaengnecut" photo booth provided a popular space for visitors to capture and create cherished memories.


With this, the 2nd Presidential Cup National Park Golf Tournament held in Yangsan concluded as a festival enjoyed by both participants and citizens. The event also received high praise from the government tournament evaluator dispatched by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism for its thorough preparation and smooth operation.


After two days of fierce competition, players who achieved outstanding results in various categories were awarded. In the individual general division, Jeon Mandong from Jeonnam topped the men's category with a total of 120 strokes over 36 holes, while Park Jeonja from Daejeon won the women's category with 119 strokes. In the individual senior division, Yang Seongeun from Jeonbuk claimed first place in the men's category with 118 strokes, and Kim Boksuk from Gyeongnam took first place in the women's category with 123 strokes.


In the team general division, the Jeonnam men's team (Choi Seongjae, Kim Chunsik) scored 114 strokes, and the Jeonnam women's team (Yoon Myeongrae, Jeong Miran) scored 115 strokes, both securing first place. In the senior division, the Daegu men's team (Bae Myeonghwan, Jang Gihyeon) scored 118 strokes, and the Chungbuk women's team (Moon Chunok, Han Younghee) scored 122 strokes, each earning first place in their respective categories.


In the university division, which was played over 18 holes, Sim Woo-in from Chungcheong University and Gu Miseon from Daejeon University both scored 63 strokes to take first place in the men's and women's categories, respectively. In the three-generation team division, which featured family teams, the Do Jaeho, Do Jonggyu, and Do Seonghwan family from Daegu City won with 53 strokes, drawing significant attention.


In the overall tournament results, Daegu City claimed the top honor, with Jeonnam Province and Gyeongnam Province placing second and third, respectively.

The success of the 2nd Presidential Cup National Park Golf Tournament is expected to provide strong momentum for the "2026 Visit Yangsan Year" campaign.


Mayor Na Dongyeon stated, "I am very pleased to showcase Hwangsan Park Golf Course, which we proudly consider the best in the country, to park golf players from all over Korea. I will do my utmost to establish Yangsan as the sacred ground of K-Park Golf and further develop it as a city of culture, tourism, and sports.
