'Worker Fatality' Kia Autoland Gwangju Plant to Resume Operations from May 26

Order to Suspend Operations at Plant 3 Lifted

The Kia Autoland Gwangju Plant, which had partially halted operations due to a worker fatality, will resume normal operations.


According to Kia Autoland Gwangju on May 24, the order to suspend operations at Plant 3 was lifted as a result of a review committee meeting held at the Gwangju Regional Labor Office the previous day.

Accordingly, starting from May 26, Plant 3?which produces an average of about 400 one-ton trucks per day?will return to normal operations.


On May 16, a regular employee in his 40s died after being caught in machinery while inspecting the assembly status of a truck that had gone through pressing, body, and painting processes at the plant. The order to suspend operations was issued on the same day.


As a result, the production line at Plant 3 was halted from May 19 to May 23, disrupting the production of over 2,000 finished vehicles.
