Woman Claiming to Be Biological Daughter Keeps Identity Private
Claims to Possess Mercury's Handwritten Diaries
There has been a claim that legendary rock band Queen's vocalist Freddie Mercury had a hidden daughter. It is alleged that Mercury, who passed away from AIDS in 1991, had a daughter in the mid-1970s from a relationship with the wife of a friend.
There has been a claim that Freddie Mercury had a hidden daughter. Still cut from the movie 'Bohemian Rhapsody,' which portrays the life of Freddie Mercury.
On May 23 (local time), British media outlets such as The Guardian and The Times reported that Lesley-Ann Jones, author of the Freddie Mercury biography 'Love, Freddie,' claimed that "Mercury has a 48-year-old biological daughter." The biography is scheduled to be published within this year. At the time, the friend was on a business trip, and the daughter's biological mother, who was a Catholic, did not want to have an abortion.
According to the reports, Jones, who has previously published several books about Freddie Mercury's life, met a woman identified as 'B' three years ago who claimed to be Mercury's daughter. Jones stated that she has since obtained various pieces of evidence, including diaries, to support this claim. B is currently working as a medical professional in Europe and participated in the interview without revealing her identity.
B said, "Freddie Mercury was my father, and he loved me," adding, "The circumstances of my birth may have been unusual, but my father's devotion was undeniably genuine." She claimed that Mercury visited her frequently during his lifetime and gave her 17 volumes of diaries written by himself.
Jones explained, "Freddie shared the existence of his daughter only with close family and friends, and he remained silent for a long time to keep this fact hidden." It is reported that Mercury began writing diaries on June 20, 1976, when he learned of his daughter's existence, and the last diary entry was written on July 31, 1991, just a few months before his death.
In an interview with the Daily Mail, Jones said, "At first, I doubted everything, but it was clear she was not a fantasist," adding, "No one could have fabricated such complex stories."
Mercury was widely known as bisexual during his lifetime, and his sexual identity deeply influenced Queen's music and performance style. His flamboyant costumes, glam rock sound, and stage expression brought a fresh shock to the popular music scene at the time.
