Kim Minseon7 Shoots 8-Under to Target Second Win of the Season

E1 Charity Open Round 1 Leader
Chance for Second Win After Deoksin EPC Championship Last Month
"My shots have become more solid, so there were no major crises"

Kim Minseon7 has laid the foundation for her second win of the season.

On May 23, at the Ferrum Club (par 72, 6,569 yards) in Yeoju, Gyeonggi Province, during the first round of the E1 Charity Open on the Korea Ladies Professional Golf Association (KLPGA) Tour, which has a total prize fund of 1 billion won, she shot an 8-under-par 64 to take the sole lead by one stroke. She recorded eight birdies without a single bogey. From the first day of this tournament, she tied the course record (set by Lee Minyoung in the second round of the 2015 KLPGA Championship) and set her own career-low score in a regular tour event.

Kim Minseon7 made her debut on the KLPGA regular tour in 2023 and claimed her first victory last month at the Deoksin EPC Championship. After that, she finished tied for seventh at the KLPGA Championship, missed the cut at the NH Investment & Securities Ladies Championship, and finished tied for 17th at last week's Doosan Match Play. On this day, her iron shots were outstanding, achieving a 100% green-in-regulation rate.

Kim Minseon said, "This is the first time I've shot a 64 since I was 18," and added, "I've never made the cut at a tournament held at Ferrum Club before, so my goal was simply to make the cut this time. I'm very happy to have achieved such a good result."

She continued, "The key to my strong performance this year is that my shots have become more solid, allowing me to play without major crises. Since the second half of last year, I've been taking a lot of putting lessons, and even on days when my condition isn't great, my save percentage has improved, so my performance has become more consistent. In the remaining rounds, I will focus on attacking the green to leave myself in good positions for putting, just like I did today."
