Jungnang District (District Mayor Ryu Gyeonggi) will host the "Jungnang Artist Festival" on May 24, a celebration created together by local artists and residents.
This event is a special program marking the finale of the "17th Jungnang Seoul Rose Festival" and will take place around the Gyeomjae Rose Garden along Jungnangcheon from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. In keeping with its reputation as "the most beautiful festival in Seoul," the area will feature a 5.45-kilometer-long rose tunnel and 310,000 rose bushes of 228 varieties in full bloom, providing a vibrant stage for Jungnang's leading artists and a wide array of side events.
Main programs include the Jungnang Artist Concert, a busking performance featuring local artists; the Jungnang Music Concert by the Jungnang District Senior Orchestra; and the Jungnang Winners Concert, which brings together past audition and competition winners.
In particular, the "Jungnang Winners Concert" will feature performances by Byun Jinseob, a legendary figure in Korean ballad music, and Park Sangcheol, a popular trot singer, further enhancing the festival atmosphere.
Alongside the Artist Festival, a variety of related programs will be offered, providing residents with even more opportunities for enjoyment.
First, the "10th Jungnang District Social Welfare Expo," a collaboration between local social welfare organizations and residents, will be held at Myeonmok Sports Park near Gyeomjaegyo. This expo, which began in Jungnang District in 2004 as the first of its kind nationwide, is a long-standing tradition.
At the event, approximately 30 experience booths will be operated, including a children's art contest, upcycling workshops, pipe cleaner doll making, and a cotton candy performance, creating a space where people of all ages can participate and enjoy welfare-related activities.
In addition, the "7th Malkongdalkongin Myeonmok Local Market Festival" will take place along the walking trail in front of Gyeomjae Small Library in Myeonmok-dong. About 40 teams of small business owners from the Myeonmok-dong area will run booths featuring handmade crafts, food, and hands-on activities, while performances by local singers and artists will further enrich the festival experience.
Ryu Gyeonggi, Mayor of Jungnang District, stated, "The Jungnang Artist Festival is a meaningful occasion where local artists take center stage to communicate and share culture with residents. The Social Welfare Expo and Local Market Festival, which are held together, are also important platforms showcasing Jungnang's spirit of sharing and vitality. I encourage everyone to show great interest and participate."
