The hotel and resort industry has quickly launched summer season products in response to the heat arriving earlier than usual this year. This move targets the so-called "early vacationers" who seek to enjoy a getaway before the peak season crowds.
According to industry sources on May 24, the Seoul Shilla Hotel is hosting various events at its outdoor pool "Urban Island," known as an oasis of relaxation in the city. First, the French premium champagne brand "Veuve Clicquot Popup Bar," which opened last month within Urban Island, is offering two special events. Starting June 1, guests can participate in a photo event by taking instant photos with a Polaroid camera at the Veuve Clicquot Popup Bar’s photo wall and entering for a chance to win Urban Island admission tickets and cabana vouchers through a drawing.
Additionally, throughout June, the "Veuve Clicquot Happy Hour" will be held daily from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Guests can enjoy a 1+1 promotion on champagne glasses at the Veuve Clicquot Popup Bar, which exudes a strong vacation vibe. Popular Urban Island programs such as DJ performances and cinema nights will also be available throughout the summer.
From June 3 to June 8, wellness classes will be held every morning, offering sessions such as sunrise stretching and band-fit classes to help restore physical and mental balance. From June 2 to June 7, there will also be a hands-on experience to create personalized "customized keyrings" using unique Urban Island-themed patches.
Lotte Hotel & Resorts has launched the "Summer Escape Deals" time sale promotion across 27 hotels domestically and internationally. Lotte Hotel Rewards members were offered up to 45% off the standard website rates for bookings made by the day before their stay.
The Westin Chosun Seoul is offering a room package called "Savor The Summer," filled with premium benefits for enjoying the summer, available until August 31. The stay period is from June 1 to September 30. Deluxe rooms start from 447,700 won (tax included).
All guests who book the package will receive a gift set of two goblets from the German premium tableware brand "Villeroy & Boch." These goblets are signature products of the brand, and recipe cards for The Westin Chosun Seoul’s summer drinks "Utopia" and "Pink Lake" are included.
Guests staying in suite rooms will receive a separate voucher to enjoy The Westin Chosun Seoul’s signature "watermelon bingsu" at the Lounge & Bar for a refreshing summer treat. Access to happy hour and breakfast at the 20th-floor Westin Club is also included.
Paradise Hotel Busan is offering a "Special Yacht Tour," allowing guests to enjoy views of Gwangalli and Haeundae seas from a large yacht. This tour is available every Friday and Saturday in June, except June 14 and 21. The hotel also offers the "Gamcheon Culture Village Trekking Tour," which passes through Gwangandaegyo Bridge, Busan Harbor Bridge, Namhangdaegyo Bridge, and circles Gamcheon Culture Village. This tour will be held on May 24 and 31, and June 8 and 15.
Inspire Entertainment Resort has launched the "Family Summer Adventure 2-Night Package" for families traveling with children. Stays are available from June 16, and all-day passes to the indoor water park "Splash Bay" are provided according to the number of guests. The "Romantic Summer Stay Package" is also available for couples, including in-room dining breakfast for two (choice of American or continental breakfast) and a 50,000 won dining credit usable at Inspire-operated F&B outlets. For weekday stays (check-in Monday to Thursday), early bookers will receive a complimentary upgrade from a standard room to a suite, subject to availability.
Meanwhile, according to the "2024 National Travel Survey (provisional)" announced by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the domestic travel experience rates for May and June from 2022 to 2024 increased by an average of approximately 4.9% and 1.3% per year, respectively, compared to the previous year. An industry insider commented, "As the trend of taking vacations before the peak season spreads, customer inquiries about summer programs are coming in earlier each year."
