“Learning Wisdom from Nobel Literature”
Program to Begin in June
"Wisdom School" is a humanities course that offers university-level content on humanities topics. The final theme selected is "Learning Wisdom from Nobel Literature."
This reflects the recent surge of public interest in works by Nobel Prize-winning authors, following author Han Kang's Nobel Prize win. The program provides an opportunity to read major works by well-known Nobel laureates and engage in philosophical and humanities-based reflection.
The Wisdom School program will be held at Jeonggwan Library from June 13 to October 17, with a total of 12 sessions. Residents who wish to participate can register online through the Jeonggwan Library website starting at 10 a.m. on May 28.
For "Humanities on the Road," a program that combines lectures with experiential and exploratory activities related to humanities resources, the selected theme is "Culture and Art of Busan, the Wartime Capital (Busan Art Blossoming Amidst Bombardment)." This program will run for 11 sessions at Jeonggwan Library from August to October.
Focusing on Busan as a place of life, the program explores the "Renaissance of Art" that occurred in Busan during the Korean War, delving into the city's culture and art. It is designed to help participants experience the indomitable courage and determination of artists who transformed historical pain into art.
For further details and information on how to participate in other programs, please visit the Jeonggwan Library website or contact the library directly.
A representative from Gijang County Library stated, "We hope that, using the library as a hub, participants will communicate through the humanities and find an opportunity to reflect on their own lives."
