Two Performances to Be Held at Jeongeupsa Art Hall on May 30
Jeongeup City in North Jeolla Province will host a performance of the original children's play "Shinmyung Dokkaebi's Gogosing" at the Jeongeupsa Art Hall on May 30.
According to the city on May 23, the performance will take place twice, at 10:30 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., with each session lasting approximately 55 minutes. Admission is free, and entry will be on a first-come, first-served basis starting 30 minutes before each performance.
"Shinmyung Dokkaebi's Gogosing" is a locally tailored original children's play produced by the Jeongeup Municipal Nongak Troupe. The play reinterprets the theme of rewarding good and punishing evil from the traditional folktale "Hokburi Grandfather" through Jeongeup Nongak and traditional performances, delivering both an educational message and the excitement of tradition.
The performance will feature members of the Municipal Nongak Troupe showcasing the vibrant and artistic elements of Jeongeup Nongak, with musical accompaniment by the Municipal Gugak Orchestra to enhance the overall quality of the play. It is expected to be a performance that the whole family, as well as children, can enjoy together.
Mayor Lee Haksoo stated, "Through a variety of cultural performances tailored to the expectations of our citizens, we aim to satisfy cultural needs and contribute to the development of arts and culture in Jeongeup, as well as to the improvement of citizens' quality of life."
Meanwhile, the Municipal Nongak Troupe's regular Saturday performances in June are scheduled to be held at Ssanghwacha Street on June 7 and 21, and at Suseong Neighborhood Park on June 14 and 28, every Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
