Gijang County in Busan (County Governor Jung Jongbok) will open a nature-inspired healing space in the city ahead of the full-fledged summer season. On May 23, the county announced that it will operate the "garden experience outdoor water playground" at Witgol Park in Jeonggwan-eup from June 1 to August 31.

The newly opened water playground covers a total area of 1,170 square meters and features a variety of play facilities, including two water slides, two water drops, and eight bulrush fountains. Convenience facilities for families, such as changing rooms, a first aid room, shaded areas, and benches, have also been provided.

In particular, this water playground is adjacent to the Jagwangcheon Local Garden, which is registered as Busan’s first local garden among basic local governments. This proximity allows visitors to enjoy garden landscapes where nature and art blend together, such as the rose garden, hydrangea garden, and illuminated street installations, after water play.

The water playground operates daily from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with a 15-minute break for water quality management and environmental maintenance after every 45 minutes of operation. It is closed every Monday and during rainy weather.

Before opening, the county will complete facility inspections and will have safety personnel and healthcare staff stationed at all times to thoroughly prevent safety accidents. Notably, this year, new shade tarps have been installed to provide an even more comfortable environment for water play.

Gijang County also plans to officially open the water playground at Ara Park in Ilgwang New Town on July 1, following a trial operation in mid to late June.

Jung Jongbok, Governor of Gijang County, stated, "As an early heat wave is forecast this year, we will operate the water playground safely and comfortably to provide a summer retreat for residents," and added, "I hope everyone enjoys a healing time in the city by visiting the Jagwangcheon Garden along with the water playground."

Governor Jung further emphasized, "We will accelerate efforts to realize 'Gijang, the garden city,' where people, urban spaces, and nature coexist in harmony."
