Visits to Jeongeup, Busan, Suwon, Pyeongchang, and More
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced on May 23 that it will hold the "UNESCO Cultural Heritage and Landmark Tours" five times until November. This event invites foreign content creators residing in Korea to explore UNESCO cultural heritage sites in the country. Korea currently possesses sixteen World Heritage sites, twenty-three Intangible Cultural Heritage elements, and twenty Memory of the World items.
The first tour, scheduled for next month, will take place in Jeongeup, Jeollabuk-do. Participants will learn about the history of Korean Neo-Confucianism at Museong Seowon and commemorate the spirit of resistance of the Joseon people at the Donghak Peasant Revolution Memorial Park. In the same month, in Busan, they will visit historical sites related to the wartime capital during the Korean War and enjoy the vibrant scenery of Gamcheon Culture Village.
In September, the tour will simultaneously visit Gwangju and Suwon in Gyeonggi-do. At Namhansanseong Fortress in Gwangju and Hwaseong Fortress in Suwon, participants will learn about the historical events and figures associated with these heritage sites. In October, the tour will focus on Admiral Yi Sunshin's life and the history of naval battles during the Joseon Dynasty, centered around the "Nanjung Ilgi," a Memory of the World item, in Yeosu. In November, participants will visit the Annals of the Joseon Dynasty Museum and Gwangcheon Seongul Cave in Pyeongchang, Gangwon-do.
The Ministry will produce videos documenting each tour and release them on the "Korea.net" YouTube channel.
