Citizens Name the Event 'Pori Race'
The largest marine leisure festival in the Seoul metropolitan area, the 'Gimpo Aramarine Festival,' will be held in spectacular fashion for four days from June 14 to 17, 2025, at the Aramarina area in Gochon-eup, Gimpo City.
According to Gimpo City on May 22, this year marks the 9th edition of the festival, which is co-hosted by Gimpo City and K-water, and organized by K-water Operation Management Co., Ltd. It has also been selected as the '2025 Gyeonggi Representative Tourism Festival,' adding further significance to the event.
The Gimpo Aramarine Festival, which has been chosen as the '2025 Gyeonggi Representative Tourism Festival,' will expand its duration from the previous two days to four days this year. In addition to adding duck boats, bumper boats, and water slides, the festival will also feature a Water Leisure Olympics, a rare event among marine leisure festivals, offering an even more robust program lineup.
In particular, the duck race, which has been a major attraction every year, has been renamed the 'Pori Race' through a citizen naming contest and will take place both on land and on water.
This year's festival will feature a variety of programs, including the Pori Race and Pori Contest; water leisure experiences (water bikes, water gun boats, duck boats, bumper boats, SUP, and kayaks); Marineland (water slides, pedal boats, water rollers); the Water Leisure Olympics; and marine safety experiences. There will also be diverse citizen participation programs such as a youth dance competition, eco-experience booths, and a national festival planning group.
Additionally, at the opening ceremony on the evening of June 14, the first day of the festival, there will be a pre-show performance featuring local arts groups such as the 2nd Marine Division Military Band, Gimpo City Boys and Girls Choir, and Dream Maru Orchestra. This will be followed by a star-studded lineup of celebratory performances by artists including Car, the Garden, Soyou, and Kim Taewoo.
'Pori' is the festival's signature character, created to strengthen the Gimpo Aramarine Festival's brand competitiveness. The character was inspired by the traditional use of ducks in rice farming to control pests. Since 2023, the duck doll race, known as the 'Duck Race,' has been a flagship program of the festival, drawing significant attention. This year, a variety of related events and storytelling programs will be offered, including the Pori Race, Pori Contest, and a large Pori photo zone.
Paid programs such as the Pori Race, water leisure experiences, and Marineland can be purchased through advance reservations (70%) and on-site sales (30%). The first round of advance ticketing will be open from May 23 to June 1, and the second round will be from June 3 to June 9.
