Hahm Ikbyung, Co-Chairman of the Reform New Party Joint Election Countermeasures Committee, commented on the allegations that Judge Ji Guyon was entertained at a room salon, stating, "There is no man in his 50s who has never been to one."
On May 21, Hahm held a live broadcast on his YouTube channel titled "I Accuse Reform New Party Candidate Lee Junseok!!" Hahm began by saying, "There are some who could not go because of very difficult circumstances, but as you go through social life, you end up going to a room salon through various connections."
He continued, "This is a fabricated claim that was made during the time Candidate Lee was impeached by the People Power Party, and under the Yoon Sukyeol administration. Now, the Democratic Party is saying that Judge Ji Guyon was entertained at a room salon, but for people around my age, I believe there is no one who has never been to a room salon."
He added, "Except for clergy, I think any man in South Korea in his 50s or older has been there one way or another. I believe it's rare for someone to claim they have never been. It's not something to be proud of that you have been, nor is it something to be proud of that you have not. That was just part of our society's culture at one time."
He also raised his voice regarding the photo released by the Democratic Party, which allegedly shows Judge Ji Guyon being entertained. Hahm said, "Everyone, if even one person has a photo of three friends drinking at a room salon with their arms around each other's shoulders, come forward. The Democratic Party, on the verge of ascending to power, is wielding enormous parliamentary authority to pressure the judiciary, so the Court Administration Office will have no choice but to investigate."
He further stated, "At the very least, that photo is not from a room salon. I don't know what kind of frame the Democratic Party is trying to construct by releasing such a photo, but it's wrong. This kind of forced claim could even backfire during the election."
