On May 16, about 10 executives and employees from Korea Zinc and its affiliates participated in a volunteer activity held at a large kids cafe located in Guro-gu, Seoul. Employees from Korea Zinc and its affiliates, including Seorin Information Technology, KG Trading, and KEMCO, also took part. They acted as daily guardians, enabling elementary school children from the Dongmyung Child Welfare Center, operated by a social welfare corporation, to experience various play activities.

Established in May 1950, the Dongmyung Child Welfare Center is a social welfare corporation that operates programs such as care and temporary protection for children in need, counseling and protection for abused children, and treatment and education programs (Bogumjari Project) for orphans, abandoned children, and children from broken families. Currently, 45 children in need of protection are residing at the Dongmyung Child Welfare Center.

This year marks the 15th consecutive year that Korea Zinc has supported the Dongmyung Child Welfare Center. From 2011 to this year, Korea Zinc has donated approximately 50 million KRW annually. The Dongmyung Child Welfare Center uses these donations for psychological and emotional support, child development, and self-reliance support programs.

Korea Zinc’s executives and employees also consistently participate in volunteer activities every year. In October last year, about 10 employees joined children aged 7 to 8 from the center for a ride experience at Seoul Grand Park. The purpose was to provide special experiences and memories for children living in facilities who usually have difficulty enjoying outdoor activities with guardians.

When selecting this year’s volunteer location, the top priority was the wishes of the elementary school children at the Dongmyung Child Welfare Center, who expressed a desire to visit a large kids cafe. On the day of the activity, the children were paired with employees and experienced a variety of play activities together. The employees spent three hours with the children, helping them enjoy activities they rarely experience, such as amusement machines like driving, fishing, and basketball, role-playing with toys, trampolines, and ball pool zones, creating unforgettable memories together.

An employee from Korea Zinc who participated in the volunteer activity said, "I wanted to leave the children with good memories, but instead, I received so much energy from them and had a truly happy time. I will continue to actively participate in volunteer activities with the children in the future."

Kim Kijoon, Head of the Sustainability Management Division at Korea Zinc, stated, "This year marks the 15th year that Korea Zinc has supported the Dongmyung Child Welfare Center, and we continue to support not only the children but also those who have left the center after reaching adulthood. Korea Zinc will continue to provide multifaceted support so that the children at the Dongmyung Child Welfare Center can grow into strong members of our society."
