On the morning of the same day, Kim paid a private visit to Mokpo New Port, where the Sewol ferry hull is kept, and observed a moment of silence in remembrance of the victims. After viewing the hull, Kim, together with Democratic Party officials, reportedly stated, "The Sewol ferry is temporarily stored here and is corroding," and added, "I hope it will be relocated as soon as possible to a space where we can remember life and safety, and that it will be used as an educational venue."
Afterwards, Kim visited Gongsaengwon, a social welfare foundation. Gongsaengwon was established in 1928 by evangelist Yun Chiho for orphans. After Yun Chiho went missing during the Korean War, his Japanese-born wife Yun Hakja continued to operate the facility.
Kim listened to an explanation from Gongsaengwon director Jung Aera about the lives of Yun Chiho and Yun Hakja, and toured the memorial hall where a monument and historical materials are displayed. She also had tea with officials and listened to voices from the field.
It was reported that in the afternoon, Kim visited temples and other religious facilities in the Jeollanam-do region as part of her schedule.
