Budget Increased from 1.44 Billion Won to 3 Billion Won
On May 21, the city of Asan in South Chungcheong Province announced that it will increase the budget for its multi-family housing support project from 1.44 billion won this year to 3 billion won next year, and will also establish a dedicated Housing Support Team to oversee the project.
The city held a meeting the previous day with the South Chungcheong branch and the Asan chapter of the Korea Association of Apartment Managers to discuss current issues related to the management of multi-family housing.
Currently, about 82% of all households in Asan live in multi-family housing, and among these, 94% reside in apartments. As 42% of multi-family housing is over 20 years old, the problem of aging buildings is becoming more serious.
The city has received feedback from the field that it is difficult to meet actual demand because the scale of support has been small and there are regulations restricting re-support for five years.
In response, the city plans to ease re-support restrictions for low-budget projects and to establish support plans for each budget category.
In addition, the city will expand other community revitalization projects, such as various festivals, and will also increase meetings with representatives of residents.
Mayor Oh Sehyun stated, "Since the majority of citizens live in multi-family housing, practical support and revitalization policies are necessary," adding, "We will more actively implement support policies for multi-family housing to create a safe and pleasant residential environment."
