Ansan City to Support Removal of Old Asbestos Slate Roofing

For Residential Houses, Warehouses, Livestock Sheds, and More

As of May 21, 2025, Ansan City in Gyeonggi Province is accepting applications for the "Slate Removal and Roof Improvement Support Project" for residential and other buildings until November.

Ansan City to Support Removal of Old Asbestos Slate Roofing

This project aims to protect the health of citizens from asbestos and airborne particles, which are classified as Group 1 carcinogens, that are released from aging slate.


The support is available to owners or tenants of buildings with slate roofing or wall materials. For slate removal, the program will support a total of 12 buildings, including 10 residential houses and 2 non-residential buildings (such as warehouses and livestock sheds). For roof improvement work, support is available for one residential house.


Applicants can visit the Environmental Policy Division at City Hall or submit their application documents by mail.


The support amounts are as follows: up to 3,520,000 KRW per household for residential roof removal; up to 5,400,000 KRW per household for non-residential buildings, limited to removal and disposal of areas up to 200 square meters; and up to 6,280,000 KRW per household for residential roof improvement.


Support will be provided until the allocated budget is exhausted. For more details, refer to the "Notices and Announcements" section on the Ansan City Hall website or contact the Environmental Policy Division at City Hall.
