Gangseo District in Seoul will host the "10th Gangseo-gu Multicultural Festival and Family Event," which brings together diverse cultures in the area, on Saturday, May 24, at the Gomdallae Cultural Welfare Center in Hwagok-dong.
Celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, the festival will be held under the theme "Togetherness is Good, Embracing Diversity," and will run from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The event is designed as a venue for multicultural families and local residents to come together, experience, and understand each other's cultures in a spirit of harmony.
The event consists of four themed zones: Performance Zone, Experience Zone, Culinary Zone, and Sharing Zone. The pre-event program features performances by a multicultural youth orchestra and choir, while the opening ceremony includes an awards presentation for exemplary couples and a "Hope Bag Popping" event.
In the Performance Zone, there will be a world traditional costume fashion show, global cultural performances, and a multicultural family talent show. The Experience Zone offers unique activities such as making Mexican hats and Cambodian flutes, exploring musical instruments and games from around the world, and trying on traditional costumes. Family-oriented experiences, including games, a family love mission, and "Life Four Cuts" photo sessions, will also be available.
The Culinary Zone will feature a world food festival where visitors can taste dishes from six different countries, providing a special opportunity to travel the world through flavors. In the Sharing Zone, a bazaar will be held selling snacks and ramen from various countries, as well as crafts from Africa, Uzbekistan, Russia, and more.
Jin Kyohoon, Mayor of Gangseo District, said, "I hope this event will serve as an opportunity for residents from diverse cultural backgrounds to understand, respect, and live together, fostering a healthy local community." The event is open to everyone, including multicultural families and local residents, and attendance is expected to reach around 2,000 people.
