Four Dead or Injured in 'Siheung Stabbing Rampage,' Chinese Man in His 50s on the Run... Police Advise Residents to Stay Indoors (Comprehensive) Chinese suspect Cheolnam Cha, 56 years old. Gyeonggi Nambu Provincial Police Agency

The police have launched a manhunt for a Chinese man in his 50s who stabbed two citizens with a weapon and fled at a convenience store and a park in Siheung, Gyeonggi Province. During the investigation, two bodies were discovered at and near the suspect's residence.

According to Siheung Police Station on May 19, the suspect, identified as A, stabbed a convenience store owner, a woman in her 60s identified as B, at a convenience store in Jeongwang-dong, Siheung, at around 9:34 a.m. that day and then fled the scene. B suffered serious injuries to her abdomen and face and was transported to a hospital for treatment.

Police responded to the report and began their investigation by reviewing CCTV footage and confirming A's physical appearance. However, due to the poor quality of the footage, police were only able to determine that A was wearing a white mask and could not identify any other specific physical features or clothing details.

Judging the incident to be a serious stabbing committed by a Chinese national, the police mobilized all available personnel for the investigation. During this process, they suspected that a vehicle passing in front of the convenience store at the time of the incident belonged to the suspect and identified the owner through a vehicle registration check.

According to police, the vehicle owner was confirmed to be the suspect, A. At around 11:00 a.m., officers went to his registered address and, upon opening the door, found the body of an unidentified person inside. The body was estimated to have been dead for several days. Since A was not at home, police believed that additional incidents could occur and resumed their pursuit.

At 1:21 p.m. on the same day, A stabbed the landlord of his residence, a man in his 70s identified as C, with a weapon at a sports park located about 2 kilometers from the convenience store where the initial crime took place. C also suffered severe injuries, including abdominal stab wounds, and was transported to a hospital.

Based on C's statement, police believe that A, the tenant, harbored resentment against C for reasons such as feeling disrespected by him, and attacked with a weapon. However, police are still investigating how and from where A moved to the sports park and assaulted C.

A police official stated, "After receiving the report of the stabbing at the convenience store and launching the investigation, we discovered two bodies in succession," adding, "The relationships between the suspect, the deceased, and the injured have not been fully determined."
