97 positions to be filled
On May 19, Yangyang County in Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province announced that it will publicly recruit 97 water safety personnel this year to ensure the safe operation of summer beaches.
Those selected as water safety personnel will be assigned to 21 beaches in Yangyang County for 45 days between July and August (with the exact period to be determined in June), where they will be responsible for water rescue, water activity safety guidance, and maintaining order along the waterfront.
Applicants must be at least 18 years old and possess a lifeguard certification in accordance with the Guidelines for Beach Safety Management.
Priority will be given to the following: ▲ individuals who have obtained a lifeguard certification through the Yangyang County lifeguard training program or who have experience as beach water safety personnel ▲ individuals with similar work experience ▲ those who have majored in emergency treatment, social sports, or leisure sports and have completed swimming and emergency response courses.
Applicants wishing to apply may submit their application forms and certifications in person to the Beach Operation Team of the Tourism and Culture Division at Yangyang County, or by registered mail, from May 19 until 6:00 p.m. on June 12.
Yangyang County will conduct a first-round document screening based on the submitted materials, and only those who pass this stage will proceed to interviews. The final successful candidates will be announced in June.
Detailed eligibility requirements, required documents, and information on disqualification can be found in the “2025 Summer Beach Water Safety Personnel Recruitment Notice” posted on the Yangyang County Office website.
A Yangyang County official stated, “Since this is a period when tourists flock to the area during summer, we will deploy a systematic water safety workforce to prevent accidents in advance and ensure that both residents and visitors can enjoy swimming with peace of mind.”
