Groups NewJeans and KATSEYE have been named among the most influential artists under the age of 21 by Billboard US.

On May 16 (local time), Billboard announced its '21 Under 21' list on its official website, revealing the 21 most innovative and influential artists under 21 years old this year. NewJeans was included on the list for the second consecutive year.

Billboard selects the list each year by comprehensively evaluating various metrics, including album and song sales, streaming numbers, social media exposure, radio and TV reach, as well as the overall impact on the industry.

Last year, NewJeans topped the Billboard 200, the main album chart, with their second mini-album 'Get Up.' According to Luminate, the album recorded an additional 227,000 copies sold last year, ranking third on the year-end 'World Albums' chart and 50th in the 'Top Album Sales' category.

Additionally, NewJeans achieved million-seller status with their double single 'How Sweet' and their Japanese debut single 'Supernatural,' both released last year. The title tracks from these singles remained on the 'Global 200' chart for 13 and 10 consecutive weeks, respectively. Furthermore, NewJeans performed at the Tokyo Dome in Japan just 1 year and 11 months after their debut, the shortest period for any overseas artist.

Billboard commented, "Even amid legal disputes with their agency, the unwavering passion of NewJeans' fans remains evident."

This year's list also includes KATSEYE, a girl group formed as a joint project between HYBE and Geffen Records in the US, who debuted in June last year. Billboard predicted that following their hit song 'Touch,' KATSEYE will continue their growth with the upcoming mini-album 'Beautiful Chaos,' scheduled for release next month.

Other artists selected include singer-songwriter d4vd and Jessie Murph, who performed at the major US music festival Coachella.
