The Nowon District Office in Seoul (headed by Mayor Oh Seungrok) announced that 'Nowon Dumul Maru,' which was created at the point where Jungnangcheon and Danghyeoncheon meet, has established itself as a leading local healing spot just about four months after its opening.

Nowon Dumul Maru utilizes the unused space on top of the river embankment and is equipped with various rest facilities such as shelters, a cafe, a convenience store, and an observatory. Its nature-friendly location along the urban riverside, combined with a sophisticated design and convenient features, is making it a popular new leisure space for residents.

Since its official opening on January 23, the number of visitors has steadily increased, with the recent weekend average reaching about 1,300 people. In particular, family visits with children have increased, resulting in the number of children's product sales more than doubling from 101 in January to 223 in April.

The most popular attraction is the 'instant ramen.' The introduction of the outdoor instant ramen culture, which was enjoyed along the Han River, has received an enthusiastic response. Seasonal specialty snacks are also one of the secrets to its popularity. Following roasted sweet potatoes in winter, new cool and unique seasonal menu items such as Sikhye, slushies, and bakery sets will be added for the summer.

Nowon Dumul Maru is a single-story container structure with a total of 147 seats: 31 indoors, 56 on the rooftop, and 60 on the outdoor terrace. The organic connection between indoor and outdoor spaces allows anyone to use the facility comfortably regardless of weather or season. For the summer, night lighting will be installed on the outdoor terrace and evening operating hours will be extended, preparing to transform the space into a unique resting place where visitors can enjoy cool summer nights.

Operating hours are flexibly adjusted according to the season, and currently, the summer schedule is in effect, with extended hours from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Nowon Dumul Maru is entrusted to Nowon Senior Happiness Corporation for operation. Through this, it provides stable jobs for women who have experienced career interruptions and for middle-aged individuals, while also expanding opportunities for social participation within the community.

In addition, in cooperation with the Hamkkegeoreum Medical Welfare Social Cooperative, a counseling space for advance directives for life-sustaining treatment has been set up, supporting the provision of welfare information and improving access to public services as a community hub.

Oh Seungrok, Mayor of Nowon District, said, "Nowon Dumul Maru is a space where you can feel nature in the city and enjoy time with your family," adding, "We will continue to enrich the space to meet seasonal changes and residents' needs."
