Mungyeong City in North Gyeongsang Province is strengthening educational cooperation with its international friendship exchange city, Salatiga in Indonesia, and has officially begun efforts to nurture global talent.

Mungyeong City Provides Full Tuition Support to Four Indonesian International Scholarship Students Hyunguk Shin of Mungyeong City (sixth from the left) is taking a commemorative photo after providing tuition support to four international friendship exchange city scholarship students on the 16th.

On the 16th, Mungyeong City announced that it had invited four international scholarship students from Salatiga to the mayor's reception room for a meeting.

These students are beneficiaries of the "International Friendship Exchange City Educational Exchange Support Project," which Mungyeong City has been implementing since 2024. They are currently enrolled in the regular Korean high school curriculum at the Global Vision School Mungyeong Campus.

Each year, Mungyeong City selects two high school students from Salatiga and provides full tuition and dormitory fees for three years. Following the selection of the first cohort of two students last year, who were chosen through fierce competition locally, two more students were selected this year, bringing the total number of students continuing their studies in Korea to four.

Angelica (17), one of the students selected this year, said, "I was so excited to hear that I was finally chosen for the Mungyeong City educational exchange support project that I couldn't sleep all night. I want to work hard and follow in my seniors' footsteps to grow into an educational ambassador connecting the two countries."

Mungyeong City Mayor Hyunguk Shin stated, "This project is having a positive effect on enhancing international cultural understanding among the youth of both countries and fostering global future talent. We will continue to expand exchange opportunities in various fields, including administration, economy, culture, and tourism."

Meanwhile, since signing an international friendship exchange agreement with Salatiga in Indonesia in 2015, Mungyeong City has been promoting various cooperative projects. Through this educational support project, the city is accelerating the expansion of practical exchanges between the two cities.
