Up to 20% Onnuri Gift Certificate Payback
on the 20th of Every Month
Gangnam-gu, Seoul will hold the 'Onnuri Gift Certificate 20day' payback event at three traditional markets in the district on May 20. The event is designed to ease the burden of grocery prices for residents, boost sales at traditional markets, and revitalize the local economy.
'Onnuri Gift Certificate 20day' is a regular event held on the 20th of every month at Gangnam Gaepo Market, Dogok Market, and Yeongdong Traditional Market. Customers who shop at these traditional markets receive a payback of 10-20% of their purchase amount in Onnuri gift certificates (either mobile or paper type).
Each person can receive a payback of up to 200,000 won by submitting proof of purchase, such as receipts, at the on-site event booths. The event booths will be set up in front of Paris Baguette (510 Gaepo-ro) at Gangnam Gaepo Market, Jungoe Pharmacy (35 Hakdong-ro 4-gil) at Yeongdong Traditional Market, and the Merchants' Association office (19 Yeoksam-ro 69-gil) at Dogok Market.
The district decided to make the event a regular monthly program after confirming strong interest during the first pilot run on April 21, when the payback budget was exhausted within just one hour. This May event will be even more festive, coinciding with Family Month celebrations.
At Yeongdong Traditional Market, a 'One More' event will be held from noon to 5 p.m. on May 20, offering additional prizes to customers on top of the payback benefits. In collaboration with Nonhyeon Elementary School, a 'Flower Basket Making Class' will be held for students and their parents. At Dogok Market, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., there will be hands-on activities for families, such as making character cotton candy and taking Polaroid photos, along with prize giveaways for customers.
Gangnam-gu Mayor Cho Sungmyeong stated, "We have prepared this event to bring vitality to traditional markets and to help residents enjoy a richer and more enjoyable time with their families through practical shopping. We will continue to provide on-site support to create traditional markets where both merchants and residents can thrive together."
