Lee Junseok, the presidential candidate of the Reform New Party, stated on the 16th, "It is true that the overall strength of the Reform New Party is growing, especially centered around the Chungcheong region."
At a press conference held at the Chungnam Provincial Government Press Center on this day, Lee said, "If you look at the trend of increasing party membership, several thousand new members have recently joined in the Chungcheong area," explaining the party's growing influence.
He further explained, "This trend is particularly evident in areas that overlap with the Reform New Party's main support base, such as the northern part of Chungnam where many young people reside, and around the research complexes in Daejeon."
Lee added, "We expect that, as our party base expands mainly in areas where the younger generation lives in Chungnam, Daejeon Yuseong, and Sejong, by the time of the next local elections, we will reach a meaningful level where we can produce elected officials starting from basic council members in these regions."
Regarding the Chungcheong metropolitan railway network, he pointed out, "In the case of the western part of Chungnam, there are concerns even in Hwaseong City," and added, "The problem is that the Seohae Line railway is not fully connected with the Janghang Line, so the West Coast economic zone and tourism belt are not being fully completed."
Lee said, "Since Naepo New Town is at the center of the western Chungnam region, I believe its potential as an administrative town will open up depending on whether the West Coast belt is developed into a tourism belt and, more importantly, an economic belt." He continued, "From the moment the Seohae Line is completed and the connection with the western metropolitan area is established, there will be significant development potential."
