Providing Customized Information
Alleviating the Burden of Childcare
Iksan City in North Jeolla Province has published a guidebook that compiles all the information needed for pregnancy, childbirth, and childcare into a single volume.
According to the city on May 16, this guidebook is a practical resource that organizes government and Iksan City support policies so that citizens can make full use of them. The contents are structured by life stage and include sections on support for pregnancy and childbirth, customized childcare services, support for dual-income families, and policies tailored to different household types.
In particular, the guidebook covers major national support policies such as childrearing allowances, childcare fees, and child benefits. It also includes Iksan City's specialized policies, such as childbirth incentives, the 280-day health management subsidy for pregnant women, mobile toy rental services, nighttime and holiday part-time childcare, and home-visit childcare coordinators, thereby improving citizens' access to information.
As of last month, the guidebook is being mailed to households currently receiving parental benefits. It is also available free of charge at administrative welfare centers, the Iksan City Childcare Support Center (Yeongdeung-dong), and the Western Childcare Support Center (Mohyeon-dong). In addition, the guidebook is posted on the websites of Iksan City and the Childcare Support Centers, allowing anyone to access it anytime and anywhere.
The city plans to publish the guidebook regularly every year to reduce cases where families miss out on support due to lack of information, and to help alleviate the practical burden of childcare by providing customized information. For more details, inquiries can be made on the Iksan City Childcare Support Center website or by phone.
A city official stated, "We hope that the guidebook, which organizes necessary policies in an easy-to-understand format, will be helpful to households with young children," adding, "We will continue to do our best to create a child-friendly childcare environment so that all citizens can benefit."
