Gwangju Seogu Launches "1000 Jump Ropes a Day, Neomju Challenge"

100-Day Challenge Until September 19

Seogu District in Gwangju (headed by District Mayor Kim Ikang) is conducting a jump rope project in collaboration with local elementary schools, titled "1000 Jump Ropes a Day, Neomju Challenge."

On the 16th, Seogu held a launching ceremony at the Sangmu Elementary School auditorium, attended by approximately 200 fifth and sixth grade students and teachers.

The "Neomju Challenge" was designed to provide elementary school students, whose physical activity is often lacking due to an academic-focused lifestyle, with opportunities to improve their physical fitness and establish a foundation for healthy growth.

Participating students will take on the challenge of jumping rope 1,000 times a day for 100 days, from May 19 to September 19. The challenge is conducted by having students complete 1,000 jump ropes each day and certify their achievement on a sticker board. Students who successfully complete the 100-day challenge will receive a commemorative gift.

Before and after the challenge, the district will monitor changes in students' physical fitness through fitness assessments. In addition, weekly card news will be provided to students and parents, offering health and exercise information to encourage the practice of healthy living.

Lee Eunju, Head of the Health Promotion Division, stated, "Developing physical fitness and exercise habits from childhood forms the foundation for lifelong health," and added, "We hope this challenge will be an enjoyable experience for students and an opportunity for them to take care of their own health."
