Jeonnam Office of Education Launches 'After-School Innovation' to Bridge Rural Education Gap

Council to Address Instructor Shortages
and Enhance Program Quality

The Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education announced on the 16th that it held a "Regional Consignment Company Manager Council" at the Naman Eoulrim Future Education Center to enhance the operation of Neulbom Schools and after-school programs in rural and fishing village areas.


This council was organized to address the educational gap in rural and fishing village regions, which are experiencing difficulties in securing instructors, and to seek practical measures to improve the diversity and quality of the programs.

The Provincial Office of Education is currently operating Neulbom and after-school programs in eight county regions through regional consignment companies. During this council, various alternatives to improve the quality of consignment operations were discussed.


At the council, participants discussed a range of alternatives to enhance the quality of consignment operations, including the development of specialized programs in collaboration with universities, diversification of programs utilizing local resources, and solutions to operational issues. In particular, attendees emphasized the importance of systematic training and support to enhance the professionalism of instructors, as well as administrative and financial backing necessary for program operations.


The Provincial Office of Education plans to actively incorporate the feedback presented at this council, strengthen the criteria for selecting and evaluating consignment companies, and further solidify the management system to improve the quality of program operations.


Kim Jongman, Director of Glocal Education Cooperation, stated, "We will continue to improve the quality of after-school consignment operations so that students in rural and fishing village areas can enjoy a variety of learning opportunities without any educational constraints."
