Targeting Rice Blast, Planthoppers, and Apple Anthracnose

Jangsu County in North Jeolla Province is launching the 'Second Half Crop Pest and Disease Support Project' to proactively respond to major crop pests and diseases such as rice, and to strengthen preventive measures in advance.

According to the county on May 16, the support will cover rice blast and planthoppers, apple anthracnose, and sudden outbreaks of pests and diseases in fruit trees. Pesticides and control agents applicable to these pests and diseases will be provided.

Eligible applicants are farmers registered as agricultural business entities who reside in Jangsu County and cultivate the relevant crops. Applications can be submitted by visiting the industry team at the administrative welfare center of the applicant's town or township of residence by May 30. However, farmers wishing to apply for aerial pest control for rice must apply separately through the relevant regional agricultural cooperatives (Jangsu Nonghyup, Janggei Nonghyup) from June 9 to June 13.

Park Cheolsu, head of the Technology Dissemination Division, stated, "Timely response is the most important aspect of pest and disease control," and added, "We hope this support project will greatly contribute to the safe production of high-quality agricultural products."
