Promoting Expansion of Renewable Energy and Balanced Regional Development

Lee Jae Myung, the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea, began his first campaign rally in the Honam region on the afternoon of May 15 at the north gate of the Jeonnam Dragons Football Stadium in Gwangyang. Despite the rainy and inclement weather, a large number of citizens gathered from the morning, filling the air with enthusiastic cheers and support.

Representative Kwon Hyangyeop (Suncheon-Gwangyang-Gokseong-Gurye-eul, South Jeolla Province) delivered a supporting speech, highlighting the need to proactively respond to the eco-friendly and high-value steel industry through hydrogen reduction steelmaking technology. She also stressed the importance of establishing a connecting road between Gwangyang Port and Yulchon Industrial Complex to preemptively support the transportation system in the Gwangyang Port hinterland, the necessity of having KTX-Eum trains stop at Gyeongjeon Line stations, and the need to establish a Gwangyang Tax Office.

In his speech, candidate Lee stated, "I am traveling along the southern coast under the theme of 'The Path of Yi Sun-sin.' Even though it is raining heavily, your presence here makes me believe that Admiral Yi Sun-sin himself would be moved and will surely help us create a new nation."

He further emphasized, "The state exists so that the people can live better lives, be safer, dream of a brighter future, and pursue happiness in a more peaceful environment."

Lee pledged, "The government will support industrial transformation, including hydrogen reduction steelmaking, and reorganize related industries to ensure that Gwangyang never falls behind. We will take clear and responsible policy action." He also mentioned the need for the introduction of artificial intelligence and the role of renewable energy for balanced regional development.

He concluded his first campaign rally in Gwangyang, Honam, by saying, "Let's build a new world, a world full of hope, together. If you give a chance to Lee Jae Myung, a prepared and loyal worker and a well-trained presidential candidate, I will create a new Republic of Korea and repay you all."

Representative Kwon remarked, "Gwangyang is a city of steel, and the Jeonnam Dragons Football Stadium is a symbolic place for the citizens of Gwangyang. Using this rally by candidate Lee Jae Myung as a stepping stone, the Suncheon-Gwangyang-Gokseong-Gurye-eul constituency will achieve overwhelming voter turnout and results, completing the revolution of light and the defense of democracy."

Meanwhile, the rally was hosted by Representative Jang Cheolmin, with the campaign team led by Representatives Moon Jeongbok and Lee Jaejeong. Representatives Park Jiweon, Joo Cheolhyeon, Shin Jeonghun, Seo Samseok, and Jo Gyeweon from the South Jeolla constituencies, as well as proportional representative Seo Mihwa, also attended.
