Guro District Strengthens On-Site Training and Education Safety Net for 2025 Flood and Storm Preparedness

Guro District (District Mayor Jang Inhong) conducted education and on-site training at the Mokgamgyo Underpass Badminton Court on May 15 to prepare for flood and storm disasters.

This training was organized to protect the lives and property of residents during disaster situations such as summer typhoons and heavy rainfall, and to minimize flood and storm damage by maintaining a prompt response system.

On this day at Mokgamgyo, about 100 people, including District Mayor Jang Inhong, Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters staff, flood control staff from local community centers, the local autonomous disaster prevention group, Mokgamcheon floodgate managers, other officials, and residents, participated in hands-on, field-focused training.

The training included: team-specific duties of the Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters; operation of the flood pre-warning and warning system; the role of companion partners for flood disaster vulnerable individuals; education on the use and management of flood prevention facilities. After instruction on how to use water pumps and submersible pumps, residents directly participated in practical training, such as installing Mokgamcheon floodgates.

District Mayor Jang Inhong stated, "As natural disasters caused by climate change become more frequent, having proper knowledge of how to use flood control materials and equipment, as well as knowing how to respond, allows us to remain calm even in crisis situations. Through prompt and systematic training, we will thoroughly prepare for summer flood and storm disasters so that resident damage can be minimized."

Prior to the training, the district completed a full inspection of floodgates at five bridges along Mokgamcheon, and local community centers plan to conduct their own training for district and block leaders.
