The Korea Venture Capital Association (VC Association) announced on May 16 that it will expand the "Venture Investment Analyst" certification exam, a private qualification system designed to enhance expertise and credibility in the venture investment sector, to the general public.
Previously, only employees of VC Association member companies were eligible to take the Venture Investment Analyst exam. Starting this year, the exam will be open to all industry professionals as well as members of the general public interested in venture investment. The goal is to broaden the venture investment ecosystem and attract talented individuals.
The Venture Investment Analyst certification was introduced to foster and verify professionals capable of making sound investment decisions and managing venture investment risks. It is the only qualification system in the industry that certifies practical expertise in venture investment.
The core competencies assessed by the exam include: ▲ company analysis and investment decision-making for identifying promising companies ▲ growth and profitability analysis through post-investment company monitoring ▲ portfolio analysis and strategy development for timely exits such as IPOs and M&As.
Applicants must achieve an average score of at least 70 out of 100 across three subjects?Understanding VC Investment, VC Investment Methodology, and Understanding VC Exits?and score at least 40 points in each subject to pass.
The VC Association plans to actively promote awareness and consensus around the certification system in light of the expanded eligibility. It will disseminate information about the exam through official channels such as the association's website and YouTube, as well as through partnerships with universities and related organizations, and will pursue follow-up promotions based on performance monitoring.
Jung Jiyeong, Deputy Director of the Korea VC Training Institute, an affiliate of the VC Association, said, "The Venture Investment Analyst system is designed to identify talent recognized for their expertise in the industry. By opening the exam to the general public, we expect to contribute to the qualitative growth of the industry and the expansion of the venture ecosystem."
The first application period for the Venture Investment Analyst exam open to the general public will run from May 19 to May 28. A total of 500 applicants will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. The exam is scheduled to be held on July 5 at Sinmok Middle School in Yangcheon-gu, Seoul. Detailed information on the exam and application process can be found on the VC Association's certification exam center website.
