On May 15, Lee Jae Myung, the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea, began his campaign tour in the Jeonnam region, launching his so-called 'Yi Sun-sin Belt' campaign. Starting in Gwangyang on this day, Lee is touring Yeosu, Suncheon, and Mokpo, invoking the spirit of Admiral Yi Sun-sin, a symbol of overcoming national crises, and presenting his vision for the development and integration of the Honam region.

During his campaign schedule, on the 14th, Lee visited the Hadong Hwagae Market, a symbol of harmony between Yeongho and Honam, where he hosted a YouTube live broadcast and exchanged opinions with young people from Gyeongsang and Jeolla on topics such as jobs, housing, childbirth, and childcare.

He then moved to Gwangyang, where he visited the Jeonnam Dragons football stadium, founded by POSCO Gwangyang Steelworks, expressing his commitment to enhancing the competitiveness of the steel, logistics, and shipping industries. In Yeosu, at Yi Sun-sin Square, he emphasized his determination to defend maritime sovereignty.

At 3 p.m. on May 15, Lee continued his campaign on Fashion Street in Yeonhyang-dong, Suncheon, expressing his aspirations for regional development and integration. Later in the evening, he is scheduled to move on to Mokpo. Lee stated, "I will strongly express my ambition for a new Republic of Korea where the east and west prosper together."

Meanwhile, on the previous day, May 14, Lee pledged to advance the shipbuilding system, announcing his plan to support the digitalization of all processes from design to production, logistics, quality control, and safety.

He also aims to lead the smart and eco-friendly future ship market by increasing automation rates and productivity through the use of AI and robots, enhancing worker safety, expanding smart factories, and fostering customized talent.
