The "rural agreement" is a project that establishes a cooperative system with the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs based on rural living area development strategies formulated by local governments. It aims to promote integrated support focused on rural living areas.
Under this agreement, Pohang City will invest a total project budget of 34.3 billion won, including 26.4 billion won in national and provincial funds, over the next five years until 2029 to restore and revitalize the southern rural living area, which suffered severe damage from Typhoon Hinnamnor.
Key projects include: ▲ revitalization of rural centers in Ocheon-eup and Yeonil-eup ▲ the second phase of the basic living hub project in Janggi-myeon ▲ and improvement of living conditions in vulnerable areas in Jinjeon-ri, Ocheon-eup.
Through this agreement, the city plans not only to improve the residential environment but also to expand cultural and welfare infrastructure, thereby substantially enhancing the quality of life for rural residents.
Vice Mayor Jang Sanggil stated, "This rural agreement will serve as an important turning point for restoring rural functions and achieving balanced regional development," adding, "We will do our utmost to make Pohang a desirable city where rural spaces are harmoniously integrated as places to live, work, and relax."
Pohang City plans to use this agreement as an opportunity to restore rural spaces and to develop a sustainable rural revitalization model that encourages population inflow and local economic circulation.
