Buan County to Host Klonamu Philharmonic Orchestra Concert on May 26

Theme: "Between Poetry and Music"
Free Admission on a First-Come, First-Served Basis

Buan County in North Jeolla Province will host a Klonamu Philharmonic Orchestra concert under the theme 'Between Poetry and Music' at the Buan Arts Center on May 26.


According to the county on May 15, this concert has been organized as part of the 2025 North Jeolla Special Self-Governing Province Resident Performing Group Development Support Project, with support from North Jeolla Province and the North Jeolla Culture and Tourism Foundation.


Buan is often referred to as a cradle of literature, and even in modern times, writers from Buan continue to be actively engaged in literary activities.

This concert will introduce and present works by poets Shin Seokjeong, Yoo Hyungwon, and Lee Maechang, who are considered masters of pastoral poetry and have left a significant mark at the heart of Korea's modern and contemporary literary history.


By combining performances based on the works of Buan's representative poets?Lee Maechang, Yoo Hyungwon, and Shin Seokjeong?with cultural and artistic elements, the concert will offer an engaging exploration of Buan's history. It aims to provide an opportunity to rediscover the historical and humanistic value of Buan, allowing audiences to easily access and enjoy the literary history of the region.


This concert will feature the participation of many artists from Buan. Poets Kim Jinsun and Lee Eunyoung will recite poetry, and the Buan Women's Choir, along with other Buan residents, will participate to convey a vision for a healthy future for Buan. Other performers include the Klonamu Orchestra, conductor Yoo Sooyoung, composer and pianist Koo Koohoe, singer Go Seungjo, and narrator Cho Gyucheol.


The Klonamu Philharmonic Orchestra is the first private orchestra in North Jeolla Province, established in 2009 to provide employment for classical musicians and to offer residents opportunities to experience classical music culture.


The orchestra has received much attention and high praise in the local community for its diverse performances, including musicals, ballet, and open concerts, holding 30 to 40 concerts annually. Admission to this concert is free and will be granted on a first-come, first-served basis. Standing room will not be available once all seats are filled, and food and beverages are prohibited inside the venue.


A county official stated, "We hope that as audiences enjoy this concert, composed of orchestral performances and beautiful melodies by artists from Buan, they will have an opportunity to rediscover the literary value of Buan."
