Damyang County in South Jeolla Province announced on May 15 that it will be accepting applications for students for the "18th Agricultural College for Farmers in 2025" until May 21.
This year's program consists of three courses: Smart Strawberry, Rural Entrepreneurship, and Young Farmers. Each course will be held once a week for a total of 17 sessions, amounting to 72 hours of instruction per course.
The Smart Strawberry course focuses on high-quality strawberry production techniques using ICT-based smart farms. The Rural Entrepreneurship course centers on the basics of rural business startups and distribution and marketing strategies. The Young Farmers course provides education on basic agricultural theory and understanding of policies to help establish a foundation for farming.
Eligibility is limited to farmers residing in Damyang who are interested in the relevant fields. Among these, the Young Farmers course is open to those aged 49 or younger, and applicants from outside Damyang are also eligible for the Young Farmers course.
Each course will accept 20 to 30 students. If the number of applicants exceeds the available spots, priority will be given to women farmers and farmers under the age of 40. Detailed schedules for the courses can be found on the Damyang County or Agricultural Technology Center websites.
Residents who wish to apply should bring a copy of their resident registration and farm business registration certificate to the Human Resources Development Team on the second floor of the Damyang County Agricultural Technology Center, or they can apply at the agricultural counseling office in their local town or township.
Meanwhile, last year’s Agricultural College operated a Smart Tomato course, providing education on ICT-based smart facilities and environmental control technologies, and produced a total of 39 graduates.
